True machine-readability means:
- Normalized identifiers — the same concept has the same name everywhere, regardless of which OEM or system produced it
- Typed relationships — the system knows that a fuel reading belongs to a specific engine on a specific vessel, not just that it's a number in a column
- Queryable structure — any authorized tool can ask a question and get a structured answer, without custom integration per data source
Why this matters now
